An Exhibition of Paintings, Watercolours and Drawings by Mary Newcomb is to open at Crane Kalman Gallery on 7th November to coincide with the re-launch of Christopher Andreae’s monologue on the artist, originally published in 1996 in association with Lund Humphries.
This richly illustrated book is based on Andreae’s conversations and correspondence with Mary Newcomb, as well as extracts from her diary. In this, her background in zoology and botany is revealed through her meticulous observations of the insects, animals and birds that populate the English countryside.
The exhibition will feature around forty paintings, drawings and watercolours, most of which will be available for sale.
