The Englishness of English Painting Part III

Country Life

The Englishness of English Painting is at Crane Kalman Gallery, 178 Brompton Road, London SW3 until May 4.

The late Andras Kalman put on the first series in 1963, when he wrote in the catalogue: 'Is there such a thing as the title claims and if there is, can this group of pictures represent it?'. Selected by the next generation, this third show echoes the first, with works for sale by the same artists, including Winifred Nicholson, L S Lowry, Graham Sutherland, Mary Newcomb, Alan Lowndes, John Piper, David Bomberg and Ben Nicholson.
